| So I was browsing my Love/Hate website of Hobbyking and stumbled across this item... https://hobbyking.com/en_us/powerful-searchlight-with-built-in-pan-tilt-and-remote-light-mode-switching.htmlScale it would be similar to a 2' diameter spotlight (41mm lens). I was thinking that you could have a couple mounted on spots or on a WPL HL truck and have them tour the field or Overwatch the field. Put in the following and get a panning spotlight on field. Servo Tester for panning left/right (and/or up/down) A battery tray for powering the tester/servos And a couple batteries for powering the "Searchlight" Just a thought... |

| I have one of those servo tester and in theory once you power it up you can don't need another power source for the light since the tester has three spots for servos. Two will be on auto mode (scanning) and one would be the power to the lamp.
You can make a very realistic spot light tower with that ! |

| So I ordered a Spotlight unit... and another servo tester. I'm gonna see what I can do with it...
I picked up a couple dirt cheap ESC's for brushed motors and Lipo's that can handle 2S-3S input. They will drive my servo system.
Battery (2-3S) > Small ESC with capped brushed motor leads > switch to turn on > Futaba 3pin splitter > 1 to spot light for power, 1 to Servo Saver > pan and tilt servo connections.
Just awaiting the HK order... So it may be Aquino timeframe... |

| My light which Mike installed works well. On/off remotely. |

| OK Order has been received. Micro Servos, no issues with the tilt one and it's mounting, but the pan one is pretty bleh... the mount leans sideways due to the use of a 2 arm servo horn, but it could use a 4 arm one (which I will try shortly). Also got a spare servo tester and receiver controlled on/off switch. |

| I will test out tonight with a simple ESC hook up and a Y-Harness. |

| Got mine yesterday too, but don't have stuff to test it out as my workshop and everything else is packed up either at my new place or ready to move in my old house. I am assumming that the two 3 pin connections coming out of the lamp itself (The two on the frame is obviously for elevation and rotation) is for power and on/off but can't test it out at this point.
Mike, why do you need a ESC to drive the servos ? The servo tester will power the servos directly and should also power the lamp as well once the tester is powered up. |

| I want the ESC as I plan on using a 2S 5000mAh Lipo as a driver. I want to keep the voltage amicable for the servos. (I know they can handle 6V, just not 100% on a fully charged 2S lipo...) |

| Crazy me........ I just stuck a 2S lipo straight into the servo tester and it seems to be okay. No servo is directly connected to the 2S lipo anyway. Elevation and rotation servo is connected to the servo tester. Bigger question is whether the servo tester can handle a 2S but I guess I just did it without even thinking about it. I had packed up my 4 x 1.5V servo tester battery pack so I just stick the 2S directly into the servo tester....... |

| It may live for the short term, but I want it to run for a couple hours So I'll use a simple ESC with auto Low Voltage cutoff to prevent over draining the lipo. The other reason. |

| It is too bright also. Wondering if it will be less hot and less bright if it is running off the servo tester rather than directly from the lipo or the ESC. |
