| Found out tonight that it is really hard to zimmermit while laugh at your one of favourite standup comedians. Maybe not the best choice for the job, but damn, I was laughing my head off. Anyway I should have all the and some battle damage done this weekend. Just need to a quick mod to the springs and should be ready for paint. If it warms up enough so I can get out to the garage. The wife has this silly rule about painting on the kitchen table. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| Finally got around to finishing the zimmerit!!!! This the second tank I've done and each time I always ask my self "What were you thinking?" In the end I'm always glad I did it, but swear I'll never do it again. So I probably will do it again. It kinda looks like I through play-doh at it, but will look good once I get some paint on it. Just waiting for some springs to stiffen up the suspension, then paint and installation of the electronics. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| It looks good, but if historical accuracy is a concern, I am not sure about the grey base coat, based on my Tiger I research.
The difficulty is that recent colour illistrations, while well done, don't seem to be carefully researc hed in some cases.
I believe the Porsche Ferdinands were made between March and Mat 1943, by this time the Tiger I's were leaving the factory in yellow. If the Ferdinand followed the same policy, yellow would have been the base. Since the Elefant conversion came later, it would have been well past the time when grey was used.
Of course I could be wrong with my speculation.
Then even if my conclusions are correct, sometimes it is fun to not let too much historical research limit creativity and or painting what we want. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| Stince, The base coat was still dark yellow, and dark green. This is a Ferdinand, not an elefant. I used this scheme for my ferdinand conversion.
good luck. tom |

| Yes, I'm aware that is a Ferdinand. With the Elefant there only seems to be few different paint schemes and they've been done to death. I want something a little different, so I'm doing what you could call semi-historic. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

I want something a little different, so I'm doing what you could call semi-historic. Yes, a person should be able to paint their tank however they want. It will look good in those colours, too. I like the term "semi-historic", you could say that about my KT, "Anneleise". I did not miss the irony in that while I wrote about historic colours in my last post, "Anneleise" should have zimmerit, but doesn't; because I didn't feel like doing it Maybe in the battle of the heavy weights, I should throw Anneleise into the fray in support of the Elefant ..............and, an open note to Captain Action; when the Elephant is out for it's first meet, make sure you bring Indiana Jones, I want to see that _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| An all super heavy battle would be great! Or we could try a few super heavies vs a bunch of light tanks (2:1 ratio?) _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| This upcoming Battleday, I'm all for trying out the impregnable front end of ANY tank destroyer, since they have the exact same limitations as any turret-less tank. Bring on the masking tape.
Have we even tried that before?
I think it will add an interesting dynamic to battles. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT
