| Greetings All! We are thinking of having one last indoor get together tentatively for Sunday March 30th. We need to know roughly how many people would be interested in attending. We would like to do a combination of battling and also a chance for everyone to test their tanks and battle systems under some testing protocols so you can see the performance of your tank! Again, we are not looking to hammer any hard and fast requirements to battle outside of 360 apple hits but it will be a good chance for people to see the differences in set ups and systems. What is good and what is not so good. Here are some of the ideas I am thinking of for the testing portion: 1. Scale speed - ever wonder just how fast your tank is going at scale speed? We would set up a time measured distance (I am working on a speed gun also) and I will bring a list of the actual speeds on road and off road of the most popular models. 2. Emitter Range - Testing of measured ranges. It is good to know just how close you need to get to your enemy! 3. Emitter Spray - Testing of fixed angles to receive hits. Everyone should start with the standard 9mm tube over your emitter. 4. Apple Receiving - Ability to receive hits from an assortment of systems and to make sure it can be hit 360 degrees 5. Issues Analysis - got a problem? Something you want an opinion or advice on? This would be a chance to do it before the main season starts! We will have some door prizes and some interesting scenarios as well so let me know as soon as you can if you are interested in attending and based on response we will move forward with booking it! _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." | Anybody with a Clark board and the emitters I send with them will have a range of 100 feet plus. I have tested this many times. The new emitters will be 120 feet minimum with a much tighter spread than current. With the apple receiving test - At what range are you doing your checking/testing? As you may know the Tamiya apples will only accept 90 deg hits beyond 10 feet. Within 10 feet they will accept a 360 deg hit. The RBU's & DBU's will only accept 90 deg hits at ranges beyond 25 feet not sure of what the DBU will do but I imagine it has to be fairly close to that. Within 25 feet they will accept a 360 deg hit I am unsure of SLU's but I have never heard about the 45 deg defence with an SLU so? Anybody with an SLU want to chime in?
HL type apples will accept anything at any distance up to around 50 feet, meaning that in some cases an HL type apple won't accept a hit from anything beyond 45 to 50 feet.
As far as the date I will have to wait till its closer |

I still have a number of SLU tanks, there is no 45 degree defence, I can attest that mine are a "hit magnet" I am assuming the HL apples are the newer blue units we are seeing. We tested one at the Feb. indoor meet that my Clark/new emitter/Tamiya Receiver equipped Taigen Tiger I could not hit at any distance. The Taigen Tiger would take hits from anything we had there, it would hit every other receiver system that was at the meet at the distances in the quote, above, so it seems to be working fine. The same receiver the Taigen Tiger could not hit could be hit by my SLU equipped Panther and Stinger's Tamiya system tank. I don't know if being indoors was a factor but it was odd that the Taigen Tiger could not hit that receiver but could hit everything else, and other tanks could hit the receiver the the Taigen could not. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| Indoors or out that should not matter. It is the apple itself, maybe I'll take one apart and see if there is a shield or it quite possibly could be the fact that Taigen rewired their apples. They changed basicly everything else away from Heng Long in the sizes or number of threads etc. If you had a taigen apple plugged into HL wiring it may not work at all. |

| This will all be part of of our Spring Tune up to put our heads together and figure this out. I was in on this. I could hit and receive from one Taigen Tiger and receive hits from the other Taigen Tiger but I couldn't hit it! But the the first Taigen Tiger and Plotniks T34/85 with a clark board could receive and hit no problem! It was a puzzle! My thinking was the way the one Taigen's Clark board was set up. We were monkeying around with the settings for a couple of weeks before that soooo..... I'm just saying...... FYI We were doing this 6" apart so there was no interference. _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov

| HL apples are pretty lax in quality control. They seem inconsistent to say the least. There were a couple Clark tanks I set up and got working better also. I think Wayne was suffering from a blocked or broke HL apple on his new Panther (Mako board), I wish I could solve that one for him :/ Glen, I'm going to have to read your post again when I'm not exhausted I'll work on a theory for you! _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

Glen, I'm going to have to read your post again when I'm not exhausted I'll work on a theory for you! first generation Mako board, I bet there is nothing you can do but change the chip. Wayne if you read this contact kevin @ RCTanksaustralia.com he used to exchange the chips as he can reflash them with new software. |

| Guys, I have a quick question. I have access to an even bigger and better facility for our battles and it is a little less expensive than the new rate at Edelweiss. http://www.kitchenerschwabenclub.com/We have an opening for March 15th a Sat. which I don't know about you guys but I would prefer to have the day after battleday off. Price would still be $10.00 a head but imagine the room we did have doubled in size lengthwise. So lets have a quick vote on this over the weekend please. Did I mention the beer is a little cheaper too? Solid hardwood floors no carpet, fun for drifting... In my discussions with my contact I discussed this being a monthly thing as well so that won't be an issue. Let me know what everybody thinks! _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov

I never delved into the world of Mako boards but I still want to know more about them. They still have a good market. As for March 15, again that's a solid work weekend for me so I'm leaning heavy on the unable to attend side :\ _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT
