Hi everyone, I’m curious about getting into the RC Tank hobby. Recently got back into 1/35 armour models and I’m really starting to get interested in RC Armour. Hoping to get a bit more insight, understand about the hobby and advise when it comes to picking up my first tank. Thx, Sean

Hi Sean, welcome aboard! I probably built 200 armoured models when I was a kid and although finished to a high standard they just sat on the shelf and basically gathered dust unless I took them to a show. THIS IS MUCH MORE FUN! Now I build them and then take them to battle! :-) Where are you located?
Again welcome. Dean

Hi, I was actually at Aquino this year. Saw the RC club setup and demonstrations. Very impressed.
I used to volunteer at the museum as a member of the Op’s Team. I’ve had to step back due to other commitments.
I just picked up a Heng Long 1/16 Sherman. It’s the 105mm version. My old Regiment used the 105mm Sherman’s back in Europe 1945. Each squadron had two 105mm Sherman attached to SHQ as support. Spent part of the weekend working on GGHG tank decals.

Well if you are free on Saturday there will be at least 2 of us at the field if the weather forecast holds. If you were impressed with the RC demos at Aquino the club's field will blow you away. So bring your tank and run it around. This is the thread we use for the non scheduled events to see if we will be there

Lol... Whitby is further than you travel Martin...
But yes, if you have the time to come out on a Saturday that Mitch and Martin are tooling around with their tanks, plus any others that show up, do so. Plus the actual Battledays where there will be more people attending.

They are INSANE amounts of fun. As a relative newcomer myself, there are two things I learned that I think are most worth sharing:
1. Whatever you get, make sure you get one with a metal gearbox.
2. Don't be afraid to ask for help, ever.
The place I get my tanks from is Matomart, and I have been very pleased with the service I have received (full disclosure: I use the entry-level Heng Long tanks): https://www.matomart.com/homepage.php
And, just to give you a taste of just how awesome these things are...
