Hi Guys,

Just a little report on the Ajax model show. First thanks to Russell and Michael for coming out. We were kept pretty stead with questions and queries from people about the tanks and the club. Although we couldn't run them around and they were just on display on a table we operated everything else to show people what they could do. I estimate there was 500 -600 people there over the day. Lots of really interesting models and quite a bit of armour but we were the biggest! LOL! I have 8 e-mails of people who were really interested and want links and probably 30 or 40 more who we just told the website to so all in all a good reception. We will push next year to have a small area we can set up and run around in so people can really have a good look. The nice thing about this show was there were lots of kids and wives/girl friends out too to watch. I had a Russian couple come up and laughed about my T34/85 with "Doug's Tank Sucks" in Russian on the side so I had to explain the whole story behind that and she took pics to send them back to Russia to her friends! LOL! Lots of people asked us what scale? Who makes them? Cost? Where do you get them? etc...

We also will have a category for 1/16 next year so work hard on any new kits to enter! I also got an invite from Frank Mackay of the Ontario Model Soldier Society to come to their annual show (next year May 2nd) and set up a battleday at this show. It is held at Fort York (Jordan can dress up!) and he said we could have a fairly large area outside to do this in. Some of you might be interested in looking at the 1/6th stuff that comes down from a 1/6th club in Ottawa. They do a set up as well but apparently don't run them around at all. This is a pretty big show too in fact bigger than the Ajax model show so it is something to think about.

Here is my little video from the turret of my KT shooting Russell when they opened the doors at 10
  https://youtu.be/5n7fY3cvsq8

People took lots of pictures of the tanks so I am hoping we see a group shot or 2 turn up. I forgot my damn memory card for my camera!

anyway that's it for now. Sorry I couldn't make battleday had a prior commitment with my motorcycle club. No not riding thank God, pool and lunch get together we do once a year.

Now boys, with all this Fury excitement going on and I keep hearing how this is the first time real German tanks were used in a movie well, I would like to give you one that I hope a few of you are interested in. It is called Theirs is the Glory. Made in 1946 about Operation Market Garden and focuses on the Arnhem area. What makes this movie very interesting is, it was filmed in the Arnhem area right after the war so you see it as it looked during the battle pretty much because of course nothing had been repaired yet. A group of the cast and crew were actually there in the battle including Canadian radio broadcaster Stanley Maxted. And last but not least all kinds of real German tanks were used in the filming. If you look around the 35 min mark you can watch real Panthers in action, plus one of them is a rare D model, around 40 and a bit a tiger panther and crap! is that a Hetzer rolling by??? Then a Mk. IV pulls up beside the Tiger, at the 53 and a bit mark you can see the very famous KT that there are lots of pics of it with the end of the barrel blown off. They doused in in gas and set it on fire for the movie!
Anyway here is the link if you want to see it or skip to the tank parts

Sort of, A Bridge Too Far covered the whole battle and all troops involved. This one concentrates strictly on 1st Para in Arnhem...

But if you just put on the uniform but don't actually do any reenacting isn't that just dressing up? Razz

Interesting developments (including Jordan dressing up Wink ), seriously, those sound like good events.

Thx for the link to "Theirs is the Glory". I enjoy " A Bridge Too Far " and this looks to be quite interesting too.
