Greetings all!
As many of you know I have been in discussions with the Waterloo Rod and Gun Club about the possibility of us establishing a permanent field and use of a hall so we would have a year round facility up here as well as our home field in Fort Erie. I should point out too that one of the largest RC aircraft clubs, The Flying Dutchman Club, has been located here for a very long time so the tie-in would be very good!
On Saturday the 15th at 4 pm. I am to do a presentation to the board of directors at their pig roast. This would be a live demonstration along with an explanation of who we are and what we do. I plan on actually going out around 2 and doing some mowing of a little area and will set up my buildings , trees, etc.. so we can actually give them an idea of what it would look like.
A couple of our members have graciously agreed to come out and help with the demo. Although I think the beer and piggy may have persuaded them! If anyone else is interested you are more than welcome! The Club is about 20 mins north on the expressway from the Schwaben Club that most of you have been to. Here is the website: http://www.waterloorodandgun.ca/gunmain.htm
Here are some pics of the property with a little explanation of what you are looking at...
Here is the front of the building where the main hall is located " />
Here is the view of the ball diamond from the east side of the main building which they are considering to let us destroy and re-configure with full landscaping. Behind it you can actually see the Flying Dutchman airfield.
" />
Here is the view of the ball diamond looking back at the main building...
" />
And the diamond itself...
" />
As you can see we can make a pretty BIG field!
" />
There are 2 halls we would have access to. The larger one in the main building and a smaller one actually right beside the diamond. Here is a shot of the larger hall. It is a little bigger than Schwaben...
" />
But for atmosphere the smaller hall is very COOL. Imagine in Feb. we put on a roaring fire and have a battleday!
" />
" />
Here are some other shots of the property. Gun ranges, other buildings etc.. They have over 500 acres I think...

Verterli?
Perhaps the 1871 model?

1881! Serial number suggest an 1887 manufacture year.

Out by 10 years The loading gate configuration got me.
This might make you sad; I recall as a kid in the 1960's that there were adds for these in gun magazines of the time for these, made into novelty lamp stands
At the same time, 1,000's of 98K's were "sporterized", some were made into sporting rifles by very skilled gunsmiths but most were chop jobs. Most are worthless now, they would have been desirable and worth more if left in the original condition and taken care of.
Lots of No. 1 Mk III's and No. 4 Mk 1's suffered the armature chop jobs in Canada, at the time, too. Would have been worth more if they were left alone, too.

Hey Guys,
A couple of the boys are coming. If anyone else would like to come out. I am probably going out around 2 to set up a little field with my buildings and trees and will mow it nice and short. The presentation to the Board of Directors is at 4 then there will be lots of piggy to eat and beer!
If you would like to come let me know so I can advise them...
TXS Dean

I'm unable, it's my first night back @ work & before that, an airshow ><
I would however be very interested in rules & possibilities of using any ranges they have, could you bring that up as well??

Well, we set up our little demo in the horseshoe area and things went well what with all the shooting and hot air balloons and pigs roasting!
Eye balled a new area that will probably work a little better further back with better parking...
One last meeting before the board on the Monday the 24 and we should be in business...
And Norma and Ed got to go on their first balloon ride!
