| Subject: New Club Name... Wed Jul 12, 2017 11:21 am | |
| Greetings Guys!
So as per on going discussions we are at the point of putting a new club name out there. Our main reason is so that we can create a new website (Big Mike) that will be kept more current and just generally update other things like the logo. We will be designing a logo that will allow the 3 current and future fields (possibly Montreal and Calgary) to be incorporated into the master logo.
We do want to keep the CanAm element of the title since that is what we are known around the world as so to that end we have come up with either:
CanAm R/C Tank Brigade or R/C CanAm Tank Brigade
Of course we are open to other suggestions of course! We would like to put the new name to rest in a month or so so we can begin the logo design and the change over to the forum and work on the new website.
Open to all comments and questions...

| Can-Am needs to stay in the beginning. I do not mind CanAm R/C Tank Brigade So my suggestions/variations that play with the last two words...
Can-Am RCAC? Radio Control Armoured Corps. (A play off the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps). Can-Am R/C AFV Armoured Fighting Vehicles Can-Am R/C Steel Battalion Can-Am R/C Armour Division
Fields can be designated CanAm Battlefield - Kitchener, Mississauga, Montreal, etc...

| I don't think we really need a survey, pretty much everyone has the same idea CanAm RC something so in keeping with a Canadian theme since eventually just after WW II it was RCAC so lets go with:
CanAm R/C Armoured Corps or CanAm RCAC for short...
All those in favour please aye!

| I’ll have to go with nay.
The name should be able to roll of the tongue easily. This way it’s easier to remember for potential new members.
I’ve been thinking about it, and the only reason a new name came up is so we can distance ourselves from Stinger’s website, that he won’t update or take down.
If we are not putting anything in front of Can-Am, there is really no reason to change the name we have now. What we have now is straight –forward and automatically tells you what this club is about. I would just drop the word “International” from it.
Can-Am - our name which we are global recognized as R/C - what our hobby is Tank - our field in our hobby Club - indicates that we are organization
Stinger’s website is “canamtankclub.com”, no mention of “RC”. If we go with a new site like “can-amrctank.com” and a new logo, anyone who googles us should be able to tell which one is the club’s active site.
We can have the coolest name in the world, but if no one can remember it, what’s the point. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| I not trying to drag it out, I just want make sure we have have a name that will be easy for people to remember.
We all ready know who we are and where to find info on the club. If want new people to find us, then they are going to search using three of the keywords, "Can-Am", "RC" and "Tank". As long as the name has those three words I'd be okay with whatever name picked. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| Its not a democracy......... Whoever runs the club, maintains the website etc. gets to call it whatever they want.
Whoever owns it (Stince/dgsselkirk ?) get to make the final call. |

| I honestly don't care what we name ourselves. I just suggested some names when asked. (I still think MikeC's Swap Meet works too).
Can someone PM me why we cannot have the ownership of the website shifted so that it can be updated (Stinger was last on the forum May 2016...)?
Honestly since the forum already has the name portion why not just go and use can-amrctankclub.com? |
