Hey boys , just wondering how  members actually got into rc tanking , from the veterans to the newbies , the discussion has never been brought up throughout the season , but I was always curious to ask , I personally have never seen an rc tank as of Nov 2015, until I bought a 14 dollar helicopter from canadian tire , had fun , then watched YouTube videos,  then stumbled across rc tanks , big 1/16 tanks ! Awsome , posted an ad on kijiji looking for one , thinking they didn't exist in ontario , my mistake , lol , Dean was the first to respond to me with a beginner  guide ....... 10 tanks later and a crap load of parts in 1 year , I've never rc'ed in my life , but like the part of all aspects of modelling  , from painting,  detailing, electronics,  programming,  etc , never ending battle , just want to thank all you guys for the help throughout the season

I was into RC Cars back when Tamiya first released the Boomerang (My first RC car). Only ever had that and a Grasshopper. Went to Unversity and forgot all about RC stuff. In 2000 I moved to KW and dug up my old Boomerang which my wife promptly drove into a Curb at full speed due. Totalled.

Played World of Tanks now for 3-4 years, decided my mid-life crisis deserved a giant 1/6th scale RC tank. Ordered it...
Actually found out about CAN-AM via Kijiji. Showed up earlier this year, now I have gone full retard and I'm several tanks in from other members, and another slew of them that are "Not yet upgraded"...

Ebay is evil BTW...

I'm afraid to list the tanks I have now... Plus the extra stuff I bought just for tanking...

Mato. Saw their display stand at a Hobby Show at the International Center long time ago. No idea the 1/16 scale market existed before then.

let's see Stince had one and i hand painted it ....looked like crap but i didn't know anything about these tanks so after a year i thought i would get one i painted it like 4 times before i got it to where it looked good.   i got my first tank just before my birthday in February 2011,  i bought it from Matomart it was the HL Pershing been hooked eversince.  i love painting them and making stuff for them and i love looking at other peoples tanks and see what they do with their's

 oh i did redo Stince's tank it was the Panzer III looks way better than what it did...lol

I love military model since I was 18 years old. I use to hang around at my home town flee market to looking for airplane, helicopter, tank,...throw away from US service men when finished their tour of duty. One day I look at website to buy 1/16 scale M-48 and found RC M41A3. I bought it. That is summer 2013.

Laugh, I've always been amazed at the technical aspect of warfare. Note that all major technological breakthroughs are a linked mainly due to the efforts of improving some aspect of warfare. My favourite shirt in high school was one with an A10 Thunderbolt on the front. My final yearbook image had a caption of "I am not a Warmonger... Much..."

I worked in a hobby shop about 15+ years ago, saw a tamiya tank in a catalog and wanted it. got my boss to take so much out of my pay and so many months later i had a King Tiger. some more month i had a radio and there it sat doing nothing. A friend opened up a hobby store and i got the battle system from him, painted it black and white and i didn't like the paint job so it sat again. 6 years ago i repainted it and made this video of it



i dont even have to say it but it sat again after this.
Dec 1 2012 had no work, feeling bored and just like Jeremy Clarkson i went on the internet and i found this. hobbyhavoc.com which led me here and the madness started with another king tiger then a panzer IV, 2 shermans and a Tiger 1 with one more i plan to get. soon. i hope.

Always liked military models but I got hooked when I saw waynes collection and talked with him. Then I had to go to a tank battle, then I was hooked.

I started after being exposed to Infantry/Armour/Artillery co-operative training during my qualification courses for Lieutenant/ Captain and Major.( 1961-1971 )
During these courses a large sand table was used to demonstrate troop movement at all levels.
They used various scales of tanks, trucks, solders, buildings etc.
I started building HO--1/87 and 1/72 scale trains, tanks trucks etc. and built a sand / train table for the basement at home .( A rolling table 8' x 20' with  trains,tanks,trucks,buildings,trees,hills etc. )

About 1968-1970 i built 2 Tamiya RC tanks. ( With a trailing wire) 
1/35 scale Leopard Mk. 1 I believe. ( I still have it.)
1/24 sale Chieftain ( It suffered fatal catastrophic separation into pieces, being used by three boys in there blow anything up years)
No more RC tanks until I saw a newspaper article about the CAN-AM RC Tank Club at the Black Creek Community Centre about 2010 or 2011.

Now I have numerous 1/16 RC tanks and love it.

I believe the advent of the internet is what has been the moving force behind meeting all the interesting and good people involved Our World of Tanks.

I started with my love of all things military, mostly equipment based, so I did my fair share of 1/35 models, as well that lead me to World of tanks, then a trip to the local hobby store for some paint, saw a 1/16 Jagdpanther, didn't get it but I did my research on it and found everyone here, I got to meet Stince, Greg and Tomzag at Stinces place, drove a couple tanks around, saw his Elephant and I was sold, ordered my first Tiger from there and now I have close to 10 different beasts.

I had imported some RC planes just for fun and a catalog came that had 1/16 tanks in it. I knew from years ago that Tamiya made that scale but could never afford them. So started hunting the internet and found Matomart and ordered KT and Panther and then in the spring went to watch for a day at Ft. Erie just to see what you needed and whether it was worth the drive from Kitchener! LOL! 

And the rest is history, waaaaaay to deep in it now... LOL!

As a kid , I once saw a demonstration of wire control airplane flying at the fair and was totally drawn in to a hobby where you could remotely control something.
I got my first RC Sherman from Radio Shack in the winter of  '83 and I played out mock battles ,while my ex stood in the window shaking her head wondering if I had gone mad.
Well yes, from there my brothers and I got Hornets, Grass Hoppers ,Clod Busters,various other RC trucks and cars .In addition a number of RC boats and planes were included in my" toy box ".
  Years later I came across a you-tube of a dad who had set up a RC battle field on his driveway and the kids were having a blast.I thought that would be great for my family too. ( I found out later this was a post from Fireman Tim!)
Any way, I bought a 1/16 WSN battle tank set on line but the Tiger broke down. As a result of searching the world for repair parts I can across Mato Mart and began down that slippery slope to RC tankdom.
Tigers,Shemans ,Pz IV,Stug,King Tiger,Bulldogs,Pershing not to forget about the Pan-Tigers. 
Like many others across the region I felt pretty much on my own in this hobby. Then quite by accident I surfed across the CAN-AM RC Tank Club.Wow ,I need to go see this club.
