So I've started a new build. I won't tell you WHAT it is yet, although a few members here might already know..

It shall be a smol tonk. So smol. 

All hardware is up to the buyer including gearbox components, bearings, M1.2 + screws and bolts.. which have been super fun to find so far!

I'll update as I build

I like the kit so far, the panels and parts are cut nicely and don't need much finishing.

We'll see when I get into the running gear... Also wish me luck finding 5mm ID brass tube when everything's closed and metric doesn't exist online ><

It's coming along... One Change I'm making from the standard kit design is to use brass rod as bearings for the track return wheels. As per the instructions an M3 x 20 bolt just sit in the plastic idler in spin with the return wheels themselves... Not very elegant.

Right now they are just a friction fit which is enough to hold them in place, and if I need to change them in the future theoretically I can.

I'm not quite sure what this material is, it's a casting… But it's like a very high density foam. Feels rough to the touch.  Several other parts and the turret itself is made from the same material.

Well, the trick is to build a robot that can then build a smaller robot, and so on... until you have a robot small enough to glue tiny hooks all over a PnzII

The idlers are taking a lot of work, sanding filing and adjusting, and they're still hard to use. Might change how they work in the future.

Turret rotation gearing is much more elegant, it's not complete here but there's a mounting bracket that comes with the kit using a small gear motor.

I had to cut out some internal structure to clear the motors, but they're hooked up and running! Had an idea for smaller and cheaper batteries.. Two 18650 LiOn cells in a simple pack! We'll see what endurance is like..

Motors run nice and smoothly, and this should run at a proper speed.

Some more detail work done. Got servo elevation working in almost no time at all... Lucky me. Tank acts as its own speaker box too, cool w design :p

My $25 gear came in the mail.... Really these should be printed. It's a Mod 1 gear with 12 teeth.

This is by far my fastest turret :p
