| I'm able! This is actually the airport I work at Do they allow "our stuff" as model entries? I remember the flier from a couple of years ago.. I wonder what hardcore plastic model guys think of RC stuff I'd enter my big-scale ship and maybe a tank! If I go I'll likely run into you, I don't know yet how much time I can dedicate to it, being on nights and such. Will advise. _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Fairly good show with some excellent entries. I did meet up with a person who has 1/16 scale tank crew stuff and he said he would send some pics. Once I get those I will make a post. Looking all the planes indoors was a highlight for me. They had the lancaster with the engines torn down for yearly inspection. I'll post pics of them a bit later... I think we could of set up a display for the club had we more notice. I did leave a bunch of business cards at the entrance for the club. Do you mean he sells them? - Stinger wrote:

That's great, sounds like a good opportunity to promote the club _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| Firstly Jordan ,you have a most envious job. I checked out the wed site and it looked like Ian was a lucky guy to have gone.Thx for promoting the club ( I need to get on this computer thing more often ) Wonderful model details . PS: A number of years ago a friend, Lou Naggy, was one of the last people to get a ride in a Spitfire they had in their collection at this airport before it was destroyed in a fire . For a while ,I understand the society would fire up the Lancaster for a fist full of dollars as well ,not should if that is still an option. |

| The Lanc flies regularly in the warmer months, usually starting in late March if its winter maintenance is all done. For $2000 a head you get to take a trip with 3 other people for an hour. Also fully tax deductible _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| I think they could bring down the price a lot. All they would need to do is carry more passengers on each flight. Taken the bomb load they were carriing, it won't be a weight issue. This way, more people I think would be able to afford the flight. For me and my two sons... $7,500 ouch. | It would be a treat just to see it take off . A real piece of history. Interesting point Ian, volume pricing , I wonder what the best group size and rate would be? |

| Theres a combination of issues with the Lanc. First people wait years and come from around the world to take a flight, and it is INCREDIBLY maintenance intensive. They're restricted by Transport Canada on passenger loads, it's complicated because they are not a 'commercial carrier' of passengers. My dad has been up in the Harvard and Beech 18, both are much more reasonable. With a membership ($125.00 + $16.25 HST), they're $275 and $60 respectively.. http://www.warplane.com/pages/membership.htmlPrices have gone up, but these aircraft are 75-80 years old _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Windsor has a Lancaster that they are trying to restore. It's a complete mess, it was on display in a park for years and was abused. The park now has two Spitfires on display on pillers where the bomber used to be. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

Absolutely none for the warplane museum, they receive no public money. They survive from daily school trips _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| The one in Windsor is also mainly funded by donations too. They are also restoring a Mosquito. I haven't been there since they move to there new location. Would like to get to one in Hamilton one day. Been to a nice one in Halifax. http://www.ch2a.ca/ _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| You could get a ride in a B-17 for $375 USD about 12 years ago. I think it is closer to $500 now but I haven't seen a rideable B-17 in awhile. I got to walk through one last year for $12. I would have given triple that easily! I also got to fondle a replica Fokker drVII, Fokker Tri-plane, as well as a P-51B at the same show! |

Here is one you can still go up in.... "Visitors also may take the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly an actual mission aboard the B-17 or B-24. Flight experiences allow visitors to fly aboard the aircraft for the ultimate in hands-on learning. Flights in the B-17 and B-24 are 30 minutes in duration and are a tax-deductible donation of $425 per person. Interested visitors should call 978-562-9182 for reservations. Reservations are recommended." | There you go , US citizens get to promote the things that secured thier ( OUR ) freedom . Here we get harassed and jailed if we have or want a replica paper mache ( paper ) weapons.
Wonder if they would let you back in to the Great White North if one was to go south for this experiance? |
