Hah! Well this one ought to be reasonably scale speed..!
You can find these in-line reduction motors on ebay, aliexpress, etc.
Turret motor : https://www.ebay.ca/itm/193183794500?var=493373633335
Main drive gears : https://www.ebay.ca/itm/401903684471
The drive shaves are M4x60 bolts with 4mm ID bearings sitting inside the motor frames that come with the kit. It went together surprisingly well. All of the reduction gears are INSIDE the motor can and are pretty small... we'll see how durable they are. I plan to drill some small holes into the top of the gearbox so I can spray-lube them

Painting time! As usual this looks A LOT more yellow in photos than in person... It's a nice "earth yellow" I got from Sunward Hobbies, decent paint. My airbrush is cheap so once I get it very clean it runs nicely...

If Ludwig ever releases one of these...

More paint and detailing... Looks less yellow! Trusty #2 pencil and metal ruler for the intricate detail work..!
I also started making the leaf springs for the 10 suspension arms. The kit does not supply anything for this but they suggest very thin spring steel, which I haven't found a source for. So I'm making them from the leftover styrene in the kit, 3 layers each... I made a simple jig to cut 3.5mm strips.

So I wasn't very happy with the kit arrangement for idler adjustment.. it was basically an aluminum disk with notches milled on one side and an M1.2 set screw (TINY) threaded through plastic from behind to hold it in place... this wasn't going to last.
I used some of the leftover metal plate from the kit to form a couple 15mm disks. I then drilled and tapped two M3 holes, one for the idler to screw into and the other for a bolt that'll tighten the whole thing from inside the tank hull. Seems to work well!
...now to figure out a way to secure the 'hub' with twelve M1.2 bolts so it's not too tight but also secure... magnets!
I primed and started painting the main wheels, I FINALLY bucked up and bought actual airbrush paint from Sunward Hobbies.. they have a good selection and decent shipping costs. This paint runs very nicely through my Amazon airbrush once I get it clean... I'm not used to paint behaving so nicely...
Paints from vallejo, I got some Earth Yellow, Black, Blood Red, Rust and Dust

I would literally kill for one of those.

Outstanding work as always! Those little gear motors you are using for the turret can come in different speeds. I found the one I am going to use for the Pike on Banggood. The output shaft is 90 deg from the motor.

Dean helped me out with some LEDs, TBU base and decals! Looking good.
I'm undecided on where to mount my IR emitter, I'd prefer to keep a scale look when not in combat. Hmm...

Heh you're almost reading my mind. I've just ordered a slower one (66rpm vs 100) of the same format and one even slower of the 90 degree type. Hopefully they'll work out!

I counted rotations for a slow heng long turret box. My calibrated eye/timing light counter may be slightly off but it is about equal to 60 rpm. That paint looks awesome! Cheers!

I used a 15RPM version for Dean's 1/10 Hooben Hetzer. Swing the MG from side to side every 2 seconds.

Got the TBU base installed and "it'll work for now" IR emitter working. Woo!
Waiting on brass tubes for axles and it'll be good to go.

Finally got the idlers how I want them!
Suspension complete and painted, still waiting on brass tubes for axles... Uhg. Otherwise those wheels will NOT spin, they're very tight press fit.
So I got tired of waiting for brass. I cut off the molded plastic axles, drilled and tapped the suspension arm for an M4 bolt and glued brass inside the wheels. Just a dab of glue and they hold on tight.
So I might lose some scale looks if I omit the wheel hub caps, or figure out how to fit them.. Meh!
