Howdy! I thought winter was about over. Then I look out the window and can't see the 100m to the road. Ha haa. I had tried earlier to take one of my Blizzards out in the field and its esc is toast.
So it was finally a day to wrench on some tracks. I decided to give my Tiger 1 some long overdue attention. I had previously taken it apart for a stationary turret to be used at Aquino. While the turret is out, I am going to add barrel recoil. Something it never had before. I am using one of Jarlath's Custom Creations recoil kit. An awesome kit if you've never seen one. The problem I have run into is I can not get the barrel out of the mantlet. I'm not sure if it is glued in there. Has anyone else had this problem before? Any suggestions?

Heng Long Tiger 1 with custom paint. Not done by me. I've tried scoring around the barrel with an exacto knife.

It has an aluminum barrel that goes all the way to the brake. Yes, there are two led's in the mantlet. One is the IR, the other flashes with the MG. That one is coming out.

Not tanks. What you all think of the Unimog I've been working on?

Hope everyone is doin well. Hopeing Cindy and I will be able to get up to see you all soon. BTW Jarlath, I'm going to need another kit when I finally get to that PZ3.
Cheers!

Firstly. Take that backing plate off (the one that is holding the LED.) That will let you know if the barrel is strictly for airsoft and is not usable for a recoiling version.

Here is an example of barrels.

The top one is what you may have and is not suitable for recoil. They usually are clipped or have the plastic mantlet glued around that retaining groove on the end.

No issues with the recoil unit. It's a cute Unimog...

Thanks. Cute isn't exactly what I was going for.  Barrel seperation 1f606

Well, I got it apart. Not what I was expecting. It is only an aluminum sleeve. The sleeve fit nice into the red barrel recoil piece. Was hoping to do this simply but nothing I do is simple. Not sure where I am going to go with this now.
Cheers

I'll probably just put it back together as is. Just wanted to get this Tiger functional again. Just found out the board has issues as well.
I'll still have the recoil kit for the PZ3.  thumbs up
