| Subject: Wespe Build Fri Jun 07, 2013 8:09 pm | |
| Guys, I have been working on a Wespe, Not 100% accurate mainly because if you were accurate you would never get all the stuff inside the thing. Anyway this was a Panzer III hull that Jordan and I struck a deal on and was mainly just a shell. It is not finished but nearing the last legs and man do I have some hours in to this thing, please be kind to me I just had to share it because I finally have all the parts test parts together to see how they fit and work together. Anybody that scratch builds knows there needs to be a test fit stage here and thankfully mine is basicly over. So here is what I have HL Panzer III lower, Metal suspension upgrades, springs, arms, road wheels, drive and idler and I upgraded to metal tracks. Visaton SC 5.9 speaker Black Steel metal gearbox - Standard out of the box HL speeds. It is a Pz III base vehicle so I think should be a bit quicker Custom Clark board ( Not arrived yet but Clark is making it for me ) Standard PZIII engine sounds, turret rotation removed, elevation put on left and right of stick. Special Cannon sound as the Wespe used a 10.5cm 18/2 L28 cannon Special decals are being made by Peddinghaus for this tank ( I think folks will like them, I think they are kick azz) track tensioners Fully IR battle capable meeting all requirements except one, the apple is on the front of the ZSPG and therefore can only be hit in a 230 or 240 deg sweep around the front of the vehicle. I have milliput complete welds both interior and exterior The total upper was 100% scratch built using 0.080 plastic card. I have modified the appearence for both esthetics and functional reasons, ie the front drivers hatch is much wider on my vehicle than the standard Wespe, this is too allow the tops of the motors to fit in the body while keeping a true Wespe appearance. This little thing will be painted AK dark yellow primer then I have chosen a rarer German camo scheme. I hope to have this completed by the June Battle day but that is approaching fast and I still haven't recieved a lot of parts. Anyway I hope you guys like the sneak peek. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Fb6LvQJQ8Y |

| Looks good Curtis! I love the Wespe and the Marder III.
The traverse works really good, cant wait to see it in action. Too bad they don't make a Panzer II hull. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| You can do almost anything with a Panzer III hull I'm like the neighbourhood Pnz3 hull dealer, it seems... hehe. Curtis looks great, is Clark just removing the turret SOUND, or changing how it works? _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| Jordan Clark is actually reprogramming the whole board for me. As I have no need for turret rotation it will be totally gone. The elevation control will be left and right which will make gun up and down on left stick. The sound of the cannon will not be the PZIII, we are changing that to something more suitable for a 10.5 which should rumble when fired. Everything else is the same. Clark and I are actually doing this as a test run to see if we can custom boards for the special projects builders have. Longer delivery and the price would still be reasonable, I am just not sure if Clark is convinced going down that route yet. - Strato50 wrote:

| I'm fresh out, but that looks like a cool build. Is that the same gun as early T-34s? _____________________________________________ Tiger I - Panzer II - Panzer III - Panzer IV - Chi Nu Kai - Panther G - KV-1b 756(r) M4A3(76) Sherman - T-34/85 - M3 Grant - SECRET PROJECT

| It's called a SU-76i and used a ZiS-3 an artillery gun that was turned to an anti-tank gun. And just to stay a bit on topic.... SU-76 were sometimes used as light artillery vehicles, like the German Wespe, for bombardments and indirect fire support. _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| Hi guys, I know I don't come on here often but you are looking at my winter project. I have been looking at this since Feb. to round out my Russian forces as part of my 1 year plan. The Russians picked up about 300 Mk. III after Stalingrad and re-fitted about 2/3rds of them and used the rest for parts from what I remember. There is a full resin kit on the market but I'm sure you guys know that.... I intend to have a pretty balanced force within the next 2 months, 2 Panthers one for the East and one for the West, 1 hand zim KT which is being built on rctankwarfare, Mk. IV ausf. H, T-34/85, KV-1, I'm sorry I can't come to the next 2 battledays as I have committments that I can't get out of but I will be there in August for sure! Thanks to Michael and Cutis for helping me stear in the right direction! TXS Dean _____________________________________________ "There are things in Russia which are not as they seem..." | Here is my latest update, still not finished but the paint is done and I am on to the weathering phase. Only build part I have to do is the wheel covers as the Wespe had solid wheels unlike the PZIII metal product I used. http://www.flickr.com/photos/94760014@N04/ |
