Hey guys,
I was curious as to whether anyone has ever published / figured out the ACTUAL gear ratios of the popular HL-based aftermarket gearboxes.

For example the number of motor rotations required for a single rotation of the output shaft.

I can guarantee that between the Asiatam, Taigen, HL and Mato "3:1" gears there is a significant difference in ratio. Same goes for a few of the "4:1" gears, which judging from pictures, are similar in ratio to the 3:1!

I'd like to know, because most of the time I've wanted slow, high torque tanks because of our field conditions, but lately I'm very tempted to make something fast.. Wink

There is a formula I use in the boat industry for gear ratios it should be the same for all gear ratios that happen throu out life aside from planetary gear sets they have a special formula to figure them out because there is 3 different ratios possible and a revese for each planatary set

Formula .....the # of teeth on driven gear divided by # of teeth on drive gear note this does not apply to planatarys

bay area tankers has a really good calculator to figure out your tank speed

if your bored and you need to crunch some numbers

Cool Razz

Ive been searching around the gearbox market, and although I really don't need a set I've found a few examples of 'newer' heavy duty sets, including a 'standard' HL ration with steel gears and bearings on rctank.de, but those guys are pricey.

Curtis I really like the set you had and I think Knipsel purchased, very smooth,

Any idea who MAKES these?

made by Heng Long my friend ( Well they are the ones that brand them, like everything from Asia it would be impossible to tell you who actually does make them.

By the way I will be constantly stocking them, Knispels was the last set I had but I have more on order, should be here in about a week.
I think I am going to try and move a bigger pinion in one set just to see how the speed will get reduced.
