Trials are underway to set up a TeamSpeak Channel (TS3) for Can Am.  For those of you unfamiliar with TeamSpeak, it is a remote server that allows people from anywhere, to go into a channel (much like these forums) and be able to chat live as if you were talking on the phone.

Then why not talk on the phone ?  No long distance charges and you can talk with up to 10 people at the same time (conference call style) and the best part is, the cost to you is free.

Well, almost free.  You need to have a headset or a boom microphone which you can talk into.  The headsets are available at any Best Buy or Future shop.
There will be more details added to this discussion in the next week once trials have been completed along with full instructions on how to log on.

If you wish to investigate this further and download the Free program, you can go to: http://www.teamspeak3.com and click on the download button. (you must have the program installed in order for you to use TS3)

This should be set up and ready to go in about a week.

Are you going to integrate it with the website? Im not fully familiar with what you can set up with TeamSpeak

There is a an option to have the TS server listed on the web site.  Once you go to the site, it will list all people who are in TS and then you just sign in.

What I will probably do is have a tutorial on set up.  It's easy, but a tutorial makes it easier.

Having this set up will allow you to chat with anyone in the club at anytime for free.  This is especially important for our club where our members are spread out all over southern Ontario.

We just had someone sign onto the web yesterday from NB.  You could not communicate with this person in voice without long distance charges.

We could then have postings when the next virtual meeting is to take place if anyone wants to attend, they can.

Lots of options.

I hope to be putting this all together for next week.  Right now the server is up and running, we will be doing a test meeting tomorrow to ensure everything works as it should.
