.

Today I had a free day without a "honey-do" list so I thought I would go about getting my new Mato 3:1 gear sets installed into one of my Tiger I's and slap on a pair of 400's for good measure.

I took the 3:1's I had ordered out of the box and had a quick inspection. Much to my surprise, I was not impressed with the gear meshing. My feeling is that if I had installed them as is, they would have been stripped on the first outing.

In order to make this work, I'll need to pull the motors and oblong the mounting holes so that I can get the drive gear closer to the driven gear. Not what I expected from Mato.

Can't say that mesh impresses me at all. Evil or Very Mad

I know what you mean.

I had one 3:1 with a shaft so misaligned that it would not run; Mato did replace that for me.

The others have been OK but a bit rough running, but smoothed out with some "break in" time.

I have one set of Waltersons from Immortal Hobbies; http://www.shop.immortalhobbies.com/

I am quite pleased with them and the owner "Reaky Dude" treats his customers quite well.

Ok, maybe I will order those. It doesn't say what motors come with them. Are they 400's?

They are nice looking motors but not 400's.

I ordered 400's to put on the Wl=altersons Gearboxes for the Taigen Tiger I am working on, now, they also came from Immortal Hobbies.

Maybe its just from the camera, but the first gear doesn't look like it was completely cut down either... or am I seeing things?
