A reminder, our next scheduled day is Oct. 12th, which is Thanks giving weekend.

That is the stupidest date to have a battle day on ....I'm sorry to go off on this one but I would like to have a vote on changing this battle day to the following weekend due to the fact thanks giving is a very famaly orientated week end and also to have a good turn out I suggest the following weekend after so more will be in attendance

I'd probably vote for the following weekend, though be less "in your face" about it.  I'm pretty sure my 3 compatriots in Hamilton will be passing on the 12th due to family commitments, and the 5th one you guys have not yet met will be coming down but has to be gone by 1:30 due, again, to thanksgiving weekend commitments.

anyone with a lot of extended family will often find themselves occupied all 3 days of the weekend. so i agree that we could see a fairly significant hit to attendance on this one.

Not trying to be in anyone face sorry to come on strongly and I apologise for that but can we have a formal vote on this we relisticly have very little out door time remaining let's have as many people out as possible

I did not set the schedule.

We have had it that weekend in October since the club began, it is a hold over from a former organizer; it was not considered to be a problem in past years.

It was pointed out to me and I thought I would put it out there, after a PM with Stince, to determine how it would work for the present membership.

I saw at the beginning of the season that it fell on Thanksgiving. Interesting it has not been an issue in the past... I have 3 families to touch base with on that weekend so I for one will be unable to attend.

We are looking at our options, next weekend is tight for meet, close to the last one.

If we go with the 19th, we are getting into colder weather and it puts it 2 weeks before the scheduled November meet, which could be in jeopardy if it gets pushed back.
 
November is usually a bonus meet as we've only had weather good one year, so October could be the last one for the year.


The options are being considered and the results will be posted.

I can't remember what happened in years past... in any event I think folks are ok with a date change considering the holiday. No problems on my end.

Well last year it was schedule for Thanksgiving weekend but because of the weather it was cancelled it was pushed back 2 weeks. Even then the weather was still questionable, with only 6 tankers showing up.

The months of October and November are petty much a "crap shoot" because of the weather.
So we may have to go with what Mother Nature gives us and if you can make, the great!

That would explain why it wasn't an issue last year!

Well I say and its just a suggestion the weekend befor or weekend after thanks giving only because then you potentially have 2 weekends to work around the weather and if persay it is the last outdoor meet atleast we can have a good attendance with out people being committed to thanksgiving ...I'm personally eschewed for that weekend only because of the sheer intake of food at my house ....I'm Gona need a craine to moove my self I get so fat and bloted I some what abuse my self to the fullest extents

Sorry but I can't attend Thanksgiving weekend. I hate Turkey but I still get dragged off to family events that in the past seemed to outweigh even the flu.
I will have to wait and see if you guys decide to change the date.

Ok city boys .....wild turkey is not a drink or a sexual position ...its acualy a wild turkey you know gobble gobble awsom bird to hunt with a compound bow ...and tasty but that's another story I guess we have to wait and see about the battle day date

Actually, where I work, that's just fairly normal conversation   (I LOVE my job   )

It is an accomplishment in woods craft and patience to get close enough to take a wild turkey with a bow.

Grr aw city folk don't understand ...its not about killing the poor defenceless tasty suculant mouth watering bird its the skill involved in it concidering that bird can see me and smell me at about 100 yards plain as day and I have to take a shot at about 10 to 25 yards

well men , we had sat booked for battle day ,but the family has changed the date ( again ) to make it possible for everyone to attend. So Sat is a no go for Norma and myself. 
FYI the 14th is the only option for us this month.
