| Battle Status: One of the topics discussed at today's battle was battle day status. Cancellations due to many reasons, mostly weather. It has been agreed upon that there will be a posting on our web site www.canamtankclub.com that will indicate the current battle day status. - If the battle day is cancelled, there will be a Red battle status button. - If the battle day is good to go, there will be a green battle status button. - Leading up to the battle day, you may get a yellow battle status button which will mean we are monitoring the situation and will have a decision one way or another, no later than 6 pm on the Friday night before the day of the battle. If the battle date is cancelled altogether, there will be an announcement of a new date, more than likely the following weekend. If on the following weekend we get rained out again like we did this weekend, we will try for the next day (Sunday) as a replacement. In all cases, there will be a posting on the main page of our web site to keep you updated. Glen and myself will be managing this system and this has been approved by all who were in attendance. If you check the web site right now, you will see the updates you can expect to see in the future. If you have any comments or suggestions, don't hesitate to post. | So do I normally. We just wanted to have one place to look without having to go through pages in a thread to find out what's happening. Also doing it this way, would be helpful for visitors too.

| Well then you should add me to the chain of events so I can add announcement notices to the top of the forum for those who come here first.
Did you guys decide at what time the decision will be to call of event the night before - 9, 10, 11 pm?? _____________________________________________ HL Panzer III | HL Tiger | HL Jagdpanther | HL Panther | Mato Sherman Hooben Elefant | HL Pershing | HL Bergepanzer IV | Tamiya Leopard 1A | WSN T-34 HL "Golden" Pan-Tiger | M16 Halftrack | HL Panzer IV | Tamiya KV-1 | Tamiya Tiger

| The whole idea is to have everyone look at one place for it and get people to use the web site also.
As mentioned in the above post...

| Is there something that is not agreeable ? This was done to help increase notification to people who are local or long distance. it applies to everyone. Do you have a different suggestion ?
The suggestion to put it on the site came from a comment that when your not on line for several days, you need to scroll through several pages to see what is going on. This was the reason to have it posted on one spot, that being the web site. This was also decided so that visitors would be able to locate the battle day information instead of looking to find this same information in a forum they may not be familiar with.
If it is the feeling that no one needs or wants to use the web site, we can certainly, easily take it down. _____________________________________________ My Tanks <<== Click hereCan-Am Tank Club <<< Web site linkTiger I | King Tiger | Panther G | PzIII | PzIV | Stug IV | SturmTiger | Pershing/Howitzer | M16 Halftrack | M26 Super Pershing | M48 Patton | M41 Bulldog | Gepard | Leopard | KV-1 | KV-2 |T-34 | |

| I think that the goal for today, was to come away with a working system in time for the November meet (weather permitting), due to the uncertainty over weather for the October meet.
Our experience this month pointed out that we need a better way to get the word out to everyone.
I am sure it will go through some revision, based on everyone's suggestions. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| I think its a good idea to post it both on the forum and on the CanAm web site.....Oh and a Bat signal too !!!.. ok no Bat signal....
If we get more members that are not on the weeb maybe a local (weeb)member can give them a call to tell them the status of the battle day, also maybe we should hand out a printed list of battle days in the begining of the spring so non weeb people and every one knows the dates ? Also pin up a battle days list in the comunity center ,on site so if locals want to show up they will know when we are there ? _____________________________________________ The Great Pan-Tiger |

| I don’t think the main problem is where it’s posted, (though I think it should at least be on the forum too), is that a clear decision needs to be made. Not to point fingers or blame any one, but if you look back at the post there was no decision really made. The Battleday only ended up Sunday because I suggest it would be better weather. Even then there no confirmation announced. When Wayne asked what was going on, I replied that I believe Sunday was agreed upon, but I didn’t know for sure.
I do think a system, would clear this problem if it rises again. I think Glen and Stinger make logical choices to valuate the situation. Both live close to field and are on the forum almost every day. But I think third person is required, in case one is a way or busy. I would suggest Tim for this. ( Not add more pressure on you Tim, but seem to be the go to guy for club events. )
If 2 out the 3 agree that the weather looks bad before a set time, then automatic back-up date goes into effect.
Then all notification can be placed clearly for all to see.

| We agreed that there are two main criteria that would cancel a battle day.
1) 40% or greater chance of rain during the 10-4pm time period 2) 3 days of rain leading up to the Saturday which prevents the field from getting mowed. The rain would probably turn the field into mud anyway.
If anyone else has an idea, please share it.
Also note that we only had 9 buildings on the field today which IMHO made things far less crowded and there was more room to manuever. |

| I will start paying attention to the forecasts on and after Oct. 29th.
In spite of all the data they have gathered over the years and all the fancy new "toys" they have now, the forecasters still can not predict accurately what the weather will be in a week or 10 days ahead.
I would love to see a good forecast, late next week, it makes it so much easier to call it, especially for our members who travel a long ways to get there. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| I have to admit my primary link is to the blogspot forms and then to the restricted members only page for detail pics. There are links both ways . In terms of attracting more members, a surfing ,non member would need to be sure the meet is still on under questionable weather conditions before coming for a visit. As we know first impressions are crucital .The current searches take you to http://can-amrctankclub.blogspot.ca/ One thing for sure ,I for one look forward to the battle days and agree with Stince there needs to be a definate call so no one misses out . Bottm line - I am looking fo a green "Go" button from the three local area guys |

| IMHO. it is too early to call it one way or the other for Nov. 3rd and I want to be sure the right call is made; don't want an un-necessary cancellation but don't want some of our members making the 1 1/2 to 4 hour trip just to find poor conditions. I will be watching the weather closely on a daily basis, especially with potential effects from the hurricane. Some of it will be a function of how much rain we get (media hype has it as "the end of all things as we know them" ), versus the amount of drying weather we get latter in the week. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| UPDATE
We have received 3/8"of rain here just since this morning, this is on top of what has fallen every day since last Sat.
I very much doubt the field will be dry enough to cut of Friday (tomorrow) or dry out enough to use on the 3rd.
I expect to be posting something conclusive on the status, this evening. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| FINAL
We will postpone the Nov. Meet to Sat Nov. 10th due to the volume of rain we received this week.
Please think "happy thoughts" about drying conditions for the Nov. 10th Meet. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| First one for 2013.
We have had 3 1/2 inches of rain since Monday.
I will try to check the field this weekend and get some pictures of the grading they have done between the tank field and the barn. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."

| The field was very soggy this morning, we have had 4 1/2 inches of rain between Tues, April 9th and Friday April 12th.
I am not sure the filed would have been dry enough even if we could have held the meet on April 20th, anyway.
Hopefully is is good for April 27th. _____________________________________________ "Luck favours the prepared!."
